Rules and policies

Rules and policies are in place to make sure your child remains safe and well at school.

Visit the NSW Department of Education’s policy library for all current operational policies.

Our school uses the department's School Community Charter to ensure all of our communication is collaborative and respectful.

Anti-bullying

Bullying of any kind is not acceptable in NSW schools.

The NSW anti-bullying website brings together information and resources for teachers, students, parents and carers. It helps to identify, prevent and respond effectively to student bullying, including online bullying. It provides information about online safety and what you can do if your child has been bullied, witnessed bullying or been involved in bullying.

For more information on anti-bullying strategies for NSW public schools refer to the department's Bullying of Students - Prevention and Response Policy.

School Behaviour and Management Plan

At Eastwood Public School, we are committed to fostering a safe, respectful and supportive learning environment. Our School Behaviour and Management Plan outlines how we promote positive behaviour and support student wellbeing across the school.
The plan includes:

·A whole-school approach to teaching, modelling and reinforcing safe, respectful and engaged behaviours.

Key wellbeing programs such as Life Skills Go, You Can Do It, Eastwood Keys, and Peer Support to support student wellbeing and positive relationships.

Clear school-wide expectations and rules for both classroom and playground settings.

A comprehensive care continuum outlining prevention, early intervention, targeted and individual support strategies for students.

Planned responses for recognising positive behaviours and supporting students to engage positively in their learning.

Attendance and absences

Students must attend school regularly so they can achieve their educational best and increase their career and life options.

In NSW, all children from the age of 6 are legally required to attend school or be registered for home schooling through the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA). All students must complete Year 10, or its equivalent and remain in school, employment or training until they turn 17.

For more information about compulsory school attendance, visit:

School frameworks (school rules)

As well as following the department’s operational policies, we have developed frameworks for our students in line with our school’s values and commitments.
